Rain-out/Game Cancelation Policy

Worthington Parks and Recreation fields will be closed at the discretion of Worthington Parks staff, not WYB.  If WPRD closes your scheduled field, the game is canceled.  The Rain Line number is 614-786-7366.  Frequently, the Rain Line is updated twice daily (once in mid-morning, around 10:00 AM, and again in the mid-afternoon, around 4:00 PM).  Please assure that you check the Rain Line for updates as conditions warrant.

For Worthington Schools fields and for all other circumstances, it is the responsibility of BOTH COACHES to determine if a game should be played.  Coaches should contact each other, make a decision, and forward their decision to parents as quickly as possible.  Remember, the safety of our participants is our first priority.

Notification of cancellations is the responsibility of the head coach.

WYB Weather Policy

Player safety is the first priority in all WYB sports.  As summer weather turns hotter and more unpredictable, we want to remind coaches, parents, and umpires to be mindful of summer storms and heat.  Please review the information below so that we can assure that everyone has a fun, safe baseball season.

Rain/Lightning Policy

If there is any sign of thunder and/or lightning, CLEAR THE FIELD.  Play may commence 30 minutes after the last sight of lightning or sound of thunder.

Hot Weather

Assure that all players, coaches, and spectators have access to water.  Give players an opportunity to rest, cool down, and find shade as needed.  Observe for signs of heat-related illness, remove participants from play if appropriate, and access medical care as needed.

Rescheduling

Games will be rescheduled at the discretion of the coaches, in conjunction with the commissioner based on field availibility.  Please inform the commissioner of any schedule changes.  Makeup activities will first be attempted to fit within the season schedule, but an extensive amount of cancellations may cause makeups to be added to the end of the season.
